Race & Grace Cohort 1: Intro
Date(s) - 09/30/2015
6:00 pm - 8:30 pm
Peace Tree Spirituality Center
We’re excited to present Race & Grace, a program that engages race through grace-filled lenses. With a focus on relationships, Race & Grace will create space for us to wrestle with matters of race that have shaped our stories and life experiences in an effort to begin truly seeing and hearing each other, which is one step in the work of the much-needed healing in this region.
There will be four Cohorts, each meeting once a month over six months with the same group. We’re employing this model with the hopes of fostering deeper relationships among members of each diverse cohort, the effects of which will spread into other spaces participants occupy outside of the group. Leon Sharpe, Founder and Principal of The Praxis Group, LLC is the facilitator of Cohort 1. Leon is gifted in creating sacred space in which people can speak their truths while remaining open to the hearing of others’ truths. Cohort 1 will gather once a month for six months on the following Wednesdays from 6-8:30 pm:
September 30 – Introductions to Each Other and the Program
October 14 – Me: Mapping Out Our Intersections
November 18 – Others: Individuals
January 6 – Others: Systems
February 24 – Bridge-Building: Connecting Our Pieces
March 30 – Chat Back: Where Do We Go From Here?
Note: the success of the program depends on regular attendance of each group member. Please register with the intention of attending all 6 sessions.
Limited spaces are available, so sign up soon! This program is FREE (made possible by a Feuerbacher Grant from the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet)! Light refreshments will be provided at each session. Childcare will also be available by request in advance. Register here.
